USC Boosts Distance Education with Slingbox

A TV streaming media device called Slingbox is used to encode video into VC-1 format and transmit it over the internet; however, associate professor Thomas Lee form Keck School of Medicine in University of Southern California (USC) has found some new ways of using Slibgbox. With the help of Slingbox, that transmits television programs to laptops and mobile, Lee created what he called a “telemedicine portal” for online doctor training. First ones to try the system were pediatricians in Armenia, who were trained to treat a disease causing blindness in newborns. Distance learning is increasingly trendy nowadays.
